Why Mounties Care?
Our clubs were built by people who believed social connection was important, and helping others made the community stronger. Today, the Mounties Board maintain this principle and have identified that we are first and foremost a member’s organisation. Any diversification strategy must be of benefit to our members physical, emotional, and social needs.
When clubs were young so too were its members and the communities in which they were built. Today the average age of our members has increased along with the demographic profile of the people living around us.
Over the 20 years between 1999 and 2019, the proportion of the population aged 65 years and over increased from 12.3% to 15.9%
By 2057, it is projected there will be 8.8 million older people in Australia (22% of the population); by 2097, 12.8 million people (25%) will be aged 65 and over.
As we age, our needs change. Where once our members spent their money on nightclubs and entertainment, more today is being spent on healthcare, medication, and spectacles.
A research paper written in September 2020 by Deloitte Access Economics for the Aged Care Royal Commission has stated that aged care spending would rise from $20 billion to $45 billion by 2023 and $151 billon by 2050. Mounties has delivered member services such as fitness and recently retirement living, and now we are embarking on another pathway which will further meet the health and wellbeing needs of our members into tomorrow …. Mounties Care.
Mounties Care will exist to improve the lives of our members, because our members are our family. It is a healthcare solution that aims to keep people healthy, independent and in the home for as long as possible.
To deliver Mounties Care we have partnered with leading integrated care specialists Vitalis. Together we will form an ecosystem of trusted healthcare providers specialising in all aspects of health & wellbeing and we will deliver programs, courses, and workshops to help members make the right lifestyle choices.
