Peta Matthews

Peta completed a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Naturopathy back in 2017 and has since worked in a clinical practice. Her passion with health lies in the ability to bring wellness to people whom the conventional medical industry can help to a certain degree.

Peta believes wholeheartedly in the importance of integrating conventional medical practices with naturopathy to achieve better health for each individual.

Her main health obsession is diabetes and metabolic health. After being diagnosed with gestational diabetes herself with two pregnancies, she dived head first into the literature of blood glucose to learn how to manage it. She was lucky enough to test these findings and discovered her blood sugars had stabalised. She has since helped many people with diabetes and insulin resistance through diet, supplementation and lifestyle.

Peta's additional specialties include skin health, gut health (including SIBO, IBS, dysbiosis, leaky gut etc) and female hormones including menopause. She loves getting into the nitty gritty and pealing back the layers to get to the root cause of illness.

She believes strongly in patient education and implementing realistic long term changes and is very excited in the prospect of working with doctors and other health professionals in an integrated setting at Freshwater.
